The short version: Root is a listening device for plant store owners, operated by Sonder SBC. Use it honestly, pay if you continue past your trial, and don't try to break it. We'll do our best to keep it running and useful. If something goes wrong, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the last three months.
Root is designed for independent plant store owners and their employees. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the authority to bind your business to these terms. The customer-facing quiz can be used by anyone who enters a valid store code. no account required.
New accounts receive a 7-day free trial with full access. No credit card required to start. After 7 days, continued access requires a subscription at $49 per month per store. If you don't subscribe, your store code will be deactivated. Your data is retained for 30 days, then permanently deleted.
Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You can cancel any time from your dashboard. cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We don't offer partial-month refunds, but we won't charge you again after you cancel.
Quiz answers, inventory settings, and dashboard insights belong to your store. We use this data to power your dashboard and improve Root. never to sell to third parties or compete with you. You can export or request deletion at any time.
We'll do our best to keep Root running reliably and give you reasonable notice before significant changes to pricing or features. We don't promise 100% uptime or that every match will be perfect. The matching logic is a guide, not a guarantee.
Our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before any claim arises. We're not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect damages of any kind.
We'll notify you by email at least 14 days before significant changes to these terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Cook County, Illinois, or through binding arbitration if both parties agree.

The short version: We collect what we need to run Root. We don't sell your data. Quiz answers are anonymized in aggregate. Store owners see patterns from their customers, not individual identities. We take reasonable steps to keep everything secure.
Root is a product of Sonder SBC, a Specific Benefit Corporation organized in Minnesota. Reach us at [email protected].
From store owners: email address, store name, inventory selections, employee names (if added), and payment information processed entirely by Stripe. we never see your card number.
From quiz takers: answers to the six quiz questions, match results, and which store code was used. Quiz takers don't create accounts. We don't collect names, emails, or any identifying information from people taking the quiz.
We do not use quiz answers for advertising. We do not build profiles of individual plant buyers. We do not sell any data to any third party.
Store owners see aggregated patterns. what intentions customers are expressing, common light conditions, frequently matched plants. Activity feeds show recent matches but not the identity of who took the quiz. If an employee is associated with a session, their name appears in that record.
We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any behavioral advertising trackers.
You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct inaccuracies, or request deletion at any time. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 7 days. Active account data is retained while your account exists. After cancellation, data is retained 30 days then permanently deleted.
California residents have rights under CCPA. EU and UK residents have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and portability.
We use encrypted connections, row-level database security, and third-party authentication infrastructure provided by Supabase. If we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you within 72 hours. Root is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information.
